Nutri-Dynamics chooses Dinnissen mixing solution for rapid and flexible mixing

Nutri-Dynamics specializes in the development, production, packaging, and distribution of private-label nutritional supplements. Collaborating closely with the customer, Nutri-Dynamics determines the desired product composition to ensure that all ingredients are added in the right concentrations and absorption forms. Starting as a trading company in 2011, Nutri-Dynamics has grown into a production company that regulates the entire process. From powders to capsules and tablets, Nutri-Dynamics produces what is needed for customized diet and health products.

Involved from the start of the new building

Just under two years ago, Nutri-Dynamics began planning to merge operations from four different locations to one large production site in Alkmaar. At the same time, Nutri-Dynamics started looking for partners capable of supplying the right machinery for the new facility. Sam Dimassi, owner of Nutri-Dynamics, says, "As a completely new building was being developed, we had the opportunity to redesign everything. We reviewed the processes at the old locations and went back to the drawing board. Having Dinnissen involved from the development phase of the building and production line allowed their experts to think along about the most efficient and smart layout of the production line."

Dinnissen did not just supply a machine, but looked at the bigger picture together with Nutri-Dynamics and other companies involved. The installation was designed considering the initial situation, desired outcomes, necessary process steps, various line components, and how these components interact. Dinnissen contributed insights on the placement of the mixing installation in the space, how all required powders reach the mixer, and the method by which the product moves from the mixer towards the filling line.

Why Nutri-Dynamics chose Dinnissen

Nutri-Dynamics was introduced to Dinnissen through the supplier of the filling line. Sam notes, "We also considered other options, but on the points we considered most important – flexibility, cleaning, short mixing time, and a homogeneous end product – Dinnissen scored best. What's especially important to us is remaining flexible. We need to be able to mix both large and small batches. We handle a variety of products and work with complex formulas. Some products consist of three ingredients, while others have more than fifteen. In all cases, the ingredients must be quickly blended into a homogeneous mixture."

Ultimately, Dinnissen delivered a Pegasus® Mixer with roll-out shafts. The ease with which the mixing gases can be rolled out of the mixer enables operators to quickly and thoroughly clean the mixer between batches. As a result, Nutri-Dynamics meets all strict hygiene requirements without losing too much valuable time cleaning the mixer. Efficiency is also paramount during the mixing process itself. Within 2 minutes, the Pegasus® Mixer converts various ingredients into a homogeneous mixture, after which the product can continue on its way towards the filling system.

Dinnissen as a system integrator

In addition to the mixer, Dinnissen also supplied the discharge system under the mixer and three Big Bag Unloading Stations. From the mixer, powders end up in Big Bags via the discharge system, after which the product goes to a filling line. Sam is satisfied with the line and the collaboration. "From the preliminary stage onward, Dinnissen has been a thoughtful partner. Everything is thought out and worked out in advance. You can tell it's a streamlined organization. They are very structured, and it's beneficial that they think already think along during construction about aspects such as set-up, heights, and the best placement for the line."

When asked if there were areas for improvement, Sam responds: "If I had to mention something, it would be that some aspects that seem obvious to Dinnissen's engineers sometimes required more explanation for us. But other than that, there are no shocking things to mention." Sam is also pleased with the communication following the line's delivery: "It's not that they just deliver the mixer and leave. The aftercare, including support with commissioning and maintenance, is excellent. After the first delivery, we ordered more Big Bag Unloading Stations, so we've had ongoing contact throughout the year." Dinnissen shares the positive view of the partnership and looks forward to a continued successful relationship with Nutri-Dynamics.
